Most local libraries have CDs. The library is about as far as you can get from big tech because they are made to serve you instead of make a profit.

For discovery— do you have a community radio station. There’s one near me that cycles through different genres and DJs. And just talk to people. Make it a conversation starter when ever you meet someone.

That reminds me that my local library has WiFi hot spots you can check out for a week at a time. Sounds really helpful for someone who needs the internet for work, and can’t easily get to the library every day.

I felt like my Baratza Encore was expensive at the time, but after using it daily for a few years I feel like it was totally worth it. If you can afford nice things, they perform well and last a long time, then get the nice things.

There are many reasons to leave. Can I also just say the number of advertisements designed to imitate user submitted content really got under my skin. I’m not even talking about onlyfans accounts posting in various subs, but actual “promoted” advertisements that used common memes or are made to look like someone took a screenshot and reposted it. Not sure how many people noticed these. This kind of deceptive advertising angers me and I blame Reddit as much as the advertiser because they take the money and serve up this garbage.

I’ve adopted the same IPO theory. Huffman thought this would drive more people to the official app, and he expects that increase to help the IPO so he’d make more money from it. If it works he’ll make a lot more money a lot faster than the approach in the screenshot. Then he can just serve everyone ads anyway, sell data etc.

Also he probably thought we were all a bunch of spineless addicts who would cry really loud and eventually fall in line, and a lot of users have. Now let’s wait and see the quality of community and content he gets after pissing off the people doing the most to create it.
