    Not Aryabhatta. But he did contribute to its development by using a place-value system that implied the use of zero as a placeholder. The formal recognition of zero as a number is attributed to Brahmagupta, who established rules for its use in calculations around 628 CE.

      Damn, so we’ve only had Zero used in theorems for around 1400 years? Damn. It’s so much more recent than I thought.
