So, what horror movies have you see this month?
Make a new post for each movie to aid discussion.
A recent Australian film, Violett. While I had some issues with the plot it was worthwhile for the confident cinematography & oddball/avant-garde direction. Worth a lookie-loo!
Thanks for the recommendation - it wasn’t on my radar.
Ready or Not - I had a lot of fun with this one. Super light on the horror, but I had a good time. I would have liked to have played hide and seek in that manor, as long as the stakes aren’t so…dire. I think the butler may have been my favorite
We start our horrorfest movie plowing in mid August, so the September list is quite long already. Way too many for a post per movie :(
As this is the first of these (and rather late in the month) feel free to dump a list in. We can clear the decks and it will go more smoothly next month.
Yeah, but I mean, we’re over 40 now, plus some shows. Such a long and random list is not really useful to anyone. Here’s some season-so-far notables instead:

Watched Oddity most recently. The writer/director’s previous movie, Caveat, had a super ridiculous premise, but some excellent tension at the end, so I was hoping Oddity would be a good evolution of that. Turned out to be kind of a mixed bag, imo, but I didn’t dislike it.
I will be tracking that one down as it seemed intriguing.
Awh that’s a little disappointing to hear cos Caveat is one of my faves!
I think it’s still worth seeing if you like Caveat, especially since it seems to be a shared universe (the bunny has a brief cameo). I maybe just set my expectations too high going in.
The Cabin in the Woods - I loved this movie. It was so fucking funny. The kills were good, and the ending was fantastic. If you enjoy horror comedy I higly recommend it. It is one of my favorites so far
I’m a big fan. 👍
We’re organizing Halloween in the neighborhood and my neighbor was talking about doing the scene from the ring. I hadn’t seen it so I watched it. A bit slow but not bad.
I then started looking up good scenes for projection from nightmare on elm Street and pet sematary. Kind of skimmed them I had already seen them there not as Good or as bad as I remembered them.
I watched Dracula II last week.
Re-watched Werewolves Within, horror comedy from a few years back not the best or a classic but I think it’s a fun movie
The last drive in Roger Corman tribute, lots of cheesy exploitation horror and background stories
Had a cheesy horror movie night with friends, watched Drag Me to Hell. The best bad special effects you’ll ever see.
Did you catch what the movie is really about?
Here go!
She has an eating disorder. Notice that everything bad she experiences has to do with food or her mouth? Also, she’s very thin and has symptoms of anorexia like nose bleeds and her hair falling out. There are some scenes, like in the bank, where everyone should be freaking out, but they’re only looking at her. She’s hallucinating. I watched Freddy vs Jason, and the 2010 Nightmare on Elm Street, both were pretty good actually
Freddy’s voice in 2010 was a bit ridiculous though lol
Mayhem - I guess this counts? I found it to be more action personally. Had a blast with this one. Fun premise, fun characters, fun action. My favorite from Samara Weaving for sure
I watched a crazy juggalo movie recently. This clown went on the wildest murder spree, for seemingly no reason. Super gore fest. Great effects though. Somehow a baby doll from the first becomes a little ghost girl in the second movie. I can’t wait for Terrifier 3
Finally got around to watching Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. That movie was hilarious, as I expected.
Longlegs and Speak No Evil were the theater ones. Really enjoyed both of them. I’ve been watching a short film series on Amazon called Alter. Some rough ones, but a good chunk is well done to make it worth it.
The Babysitter and its sequel. If you aren’t into cheesy ass shit, this ain’t for you. It was so fucking goofy and fun the whole way through. Fairly predictable, but it didn’t take anything away from it for my partner or me. I was not a fan of the ending of the second movie, but they are still worth watching in their entirety if you aren’t trying to take them serious. They almost have horror Home Alone vibes
I put these up with tucker and Dale. So much fun.
I should watch that one again. I don’t really remember it, but I know I liked it
