I’ve just been lurking so far, but that’s been good. Mastodon is great so I’m sure Lemmy will grow out of its initial pains.

Agreed on these points. The app doesn’t work but the site is good
Linus has always been political and principled, I mean he chose the GPL for a reason! Glad to see him state all of this outright though, it only makes me respect him more.
