  • A perpetual license doesn’t mean the company supports it forever; you know that, right? I have a copy of Quickbooks 2015 that I got the license key for from a closing company for about $25. I will never have to pay another dime for it, it’s a perpetual license and will run indefinitely. I just don’t get any updates at all, and I can’t run anything that requires updates or subscriptions like payroll or advanced features. But that’s absolutely fine for my purposes and works the same for many, many people. This is how things should be - if I’m fine with using an outdated version, there is zero reason I need a subscription license.

Oh, you’ve got a carb nibbling goblin, too? If we accidentally forget to put away the bagels, the bread, the muffins, the cookies, the cake, the insert whatever carb treat here… We will inevitably wake up to find tiny holes chewed out of the bag or box and shredded crumbs everywhere, including stuck to the little asshole’s fur.

My husband and I met at a friend’s house and both ended up staying the night. The friend went up to his room, my husband set up the pull out couch for me to lay on… and then went to go sleep on the recliner. It was fucking adorable and I’m pretty sure that right there was the moment I decided he needed to be mine. I laughed at him and told him he needed to get his ass over to the bed because there was no way we weren’t going to at least cuddle after making eyes at each other for 6 hours straight, lol.

Respect is fucking hot. I don’t understand guys who don’t get that, or women who don’t think the same way.

  • Honestly, I am unoffended by that dynamic in my house. Our difference isn’t as great - my 5’5" to his 6’2" - but I just laugh and tell him to move when he tries to scrunch down to get things, and I sigh loudly and stare at him while stretching my arm up if I don’t want to climb for high things. We’re goofy like that, though, neither of us take it seriously and he teases me right back.

I think you’re misunderstanding me. I’m talking about the change in the regulating body now allowing the teams, or at least the countries sponsoring them, to make their own choices. It used to be that the regulating body enforced skimpy bikinis, and now they don’t. That’s progress. Individual teams using that choice to be shitty in no way undermines that progress. Less people being forced to do or wear things against their will, better judgement, or desire is always better, even if there’s still progress to be made.

And this is tangential and I don’t really wish to get into an argument over it, but I have to point out that the logic of “well they knew what they were getting into so they by default consented to it” is really fucking terrible logic. Here, make the choice between being objectified so you can continue competing, or give up your dreams to maintain your dignity! What the fuck kind of choice is that? That’s coercion hiding behind choice. That’s one step below “have sex with me or you’re fired”. Fuck that noise.

  • The commenter I replied to said, “when there isn’t a choice, it’s repression”. This goes the other way, too. When the volleyball teams didn’t have the choice to cover up because the regulating body enforced “less than 10cm coverage” - which is a fact, this is a thing they did until recently - it’s just as bad. No woman should be forced to wear more or less clothing than they want. My comment was specifically in reference to the change in rules by the governing body allowing teams to come to their own decisions regarding appropriate uniform. Will some teams enforce regulations that are also bad? Yes, but progress is progress. A smaller group of people being forced to follow shitty regulations is always better than a huge group of people being forced to follow shitty regulations. That individual teams do not allow choice in no way undermines the progress of the regulating body.

  • At the moment, it’s moreso that these are already existing medical dispensaries that have been cleared to sell recreational starting tomorrow, which is almost all of them (we don’t have that many in the state right now, anyway - I think around 130 at this point, many very recently opened). They’re still, as far as I’m aware, setting up the process for a rec-only selling license, so it remains to be seen how quickly we will reach saturation. Prices will remain high here for quite some time, though, I think - probably until it’s federally legal to sell cannabis across state lines. Our growing system is kind of shit and I don’t see that changing soon.

  • Although even in single player, what’s the point of gaming, if you don’t get to discuss it with most of your friends

… The point is to… play… the game? I have exactly two current games that I play or talk about with friends. The others are all single player games that I play solely for the enjoyment of playing the damn game. Like, what do you mean, what’s the point? This view is utterly baffling, just play it?

  • Thanks, saved me the effort 😂

Edit, although I do want to add: he spent TWO YEARS grooming this little girl online. Started when she was 10. Then, after 2 years of online pedo fuckery, fucking flew himself to the UK to rape the poor girl. This was not “dumb 19 year old does dumb 19 year old things”, as gross as that would be on its own. This was TWO FUCKING YEARS OF PREMEDITATION PRIOR TO RAPING HER.

Sentenced to 4 years, only actually served about 1 if I recall correctly. Disgusting.
