I guess I am too, maybe it’s my nouveau-ness (not that I’m anywhere near “rich”), but I don’t understand why the attitude isn’t “just go make more money”? (Keeping in mind we’re talking about people who don’t need the money for subsistence and are clearly capable of generating cash)

I do have a 64gb m1 MacBook Pro and man that thing screams at doing LLM AI. I use it to serve models locally throughout my house, while it otherwise still works as a fantastic computer (usually using about half the ram for llm usage). I still prefer a 4080 for image generation though.

Yeah taken as a guideline and observation that computer speeds/storage/etc continue to improve, I think it’s fair. It may not always be double, but it is still significantly different than other physical processes which have “stagnated” by a similar metric (like top speed on an average vehicle or miles per gallon).
Yet another who could have just shut the fuck up. Alas.
It’s a good thing we invented this straw person to have this whole discussion artificially when literally no one else was bringing it up. If we can’t find any monsters I guess we’ll invent them and do it anyway. 🙄
As long as they keep shoving more stories somewhere in between some otherwise inconsequential aspect of the original trilogy it will just keep grinding to nothing. They’ll make an entire movie following the production of an intergalactic cheese pizza so you can understand why the lieutenant commander in the background shot of a scene in episode 4 farted. Tell some fucking new stories already.
