While I admit I don’t have the time to read this entire article, I have serious concerns with the proposition that her race didn’t play a factor. I don’t think there was any one cause as to her defeat, but to say that racism wasn’t one of those causes is hugely problematic to me. I get what the article is going for, and I agree the Dems are learning exactly zero lessons from 2024 and they try to deflect and shift blame on others (Gaza is a perfect example—that issue majorly costed Dems votes and yet they’re doubling down on their godawful support of israel). But racism runs so fucking deep in this country that I very much disagree with its wholesale dismissal as having an impact on this election. Same goes with her gender. Her being black and her being a her definitely made an impact.

In 2021, the US Senate voted to raise the minimum wage (which sits at $7.25/hr), and 8 Democrats joined with all Republicans to vote against the measure. It failed. I will never forget the image of former Dem Krysten Sinema doing a literal curtsey as should voted no.

Now, far-right MAGA playboy Josh Hawley wants to raise the minimum wage—and not just raise it but more than double it. I hope Democrats realize that, unless they do something drastically differently very quickly, they will lose every forthcoming election. Handedly. MAGA is now promoting a PROGRESSIVE talking point. (And if I was a MAGA strategist, I’d be recommending Republicans keep doing this kind of stuff, which only divides the Left and makes them unwinnable. Credit where credit is due, it’s a great strategy.)

Like, do Dems realize how fucked they are? In the public’s eye, they are now to the RIGHT of Josh motherfucking Hawley on minimum wage. Democrats chose this path while trump was on the rise, and now they’re permanently fucked. They should have stuck with a progressive platform that focused on the people.
