Look at the sports with systemic ad presence vs sports where it’s all “grass roots.” (The grass roots ones are mostly gone.)
Most top sports are incredibly expensive to keep running and the ones that become infested with ads are the ones that stick around for us to enjoy. If you follow less popular sports you’ll consider yourself lucky to bring in ads and sponsors.
Yes but government is ultimately good and does much good. Our politicians are mostly good (there’s 500,000+) because it’s people like us standing up to work policy. The idea that our government is innately bad and that it’s just bad people doing bad things is so tiring.
I can barely run steam and the games I bought on steam at the same time, which is required for most games. Steam disabled certain features and bloated the software – their launcher takes more resources than actual games. AAA games. (From a decade ago, but still.)
Other launchers might be garbage but the bar seems to be pretty low. Only thing anyone can say is “get a better computer” because in their mind that is a great rebuttal to “why is a game tied to a launcher which takes up 4x as many resources as my entire OS?”
I tried googling ‘jimmy fallon vulcan’ and couldn’t find that picture, just him joking about a statue. It’s spot on though
They’re unaliving censorship, or however younger generations say it.
If it’s anything like the places I work, they specifically tell you to be very careful about what you wash away.
I like the wasps around my house, they’re Apache wasps I think. I’ve shooed them away, worked next to them, they just watch me or fly around. Seems I need to really try to anger them.
Mud daubers are cool too but their life cycle is nightmare fuel, I feel for the spiders.
My favorite part of Transformers was when my government had the script changed to include Marines being heroic in a movie about giant alien robots. We really needed good PR after that whole Afghanistan and Iraq thing.
By the end of the article they’ve framed much of this as being pro-Hamas / anti-Israel when a collaborative encyclopedia was seemingly worried about appearing neutral.
There’s enough there to have a good argument about sources and consistent wording but the article keeps highlighting people who think it’s purely political and even that people probably didn’t read the issue, they just wanted to be pro or anti Israel.
There’s still a lot of people who call this a genocide because they feel / think it’s a genocide, not because they’re on a side. Having consistent wording is important because you should be able to speak the truth and still feel whatever you felt… it’s not about hating Israel. I guess the beginning of the article sort of captures that mindset.
It’s like an old 100 yo trend of writing headlines except it has gotten much more “slam”-filled. Crash blossoms / headlinese has evolved over time.
I agree that Lando broke the rules, don’t get me wrong. Max is phenomenal at everything, finding the limit everywhere.
I guess there’s no leeway for when a car passes off track so the stewards can’t do much. Or maybe the logic is that cars must decide when to give a position up, but never to take a portion.
I don’t understand the stewards on this one. The attacker has to prepare for a pass this late in the race. It’s a fighter in round 5 creating an opportunity to win. You can’t cheap shot the attacker and then go “guess you’ll have to try again.” It makes no sense.
They even tell teams to handle off track incidents themselves before they get involved. Well the defender went off the track because they lost control (aka purposely came off the brake) and couldn’t make the corner. The defender destroyed all that preparation by leaving the track, thereby gaining a multiple lap advantage! Clearly the attacking car should keep the place. But now it’s up to the stewards to decide apparently.
I need to try windows again. I remember it being more complex than Linux. I switched just so things were easier. Cygwin! Registry editing! Getting a Microsoft degree just to edit my desktop menus. I didn’t just sit there and install my programs like a good kid and actually wanted to, you know, do things with my computer. And boy did windows hate me for it.
I’m hoping modern IDEs or just having Linux on standby would make Windows simple enough to use.
No problem, I probably shouldn’t immediately use such a weighty topic when I was just trying to be ridiculous to make fun of ridiculousness.
I was replying to someone who said “just goes to show that most innocent people police kill aren’t innocent” or whatever. Because it’s very useful to point out that people did a bad thing when police execute them on the street.
I’m being sarcastic by the way.
Kind of like how most children who are violently beaten by their owners/parents did something wrong. Yes it’s illegal, and it’s over the top, but it’s very useful to point out that beaten children have probably done something bad. It’s so useful, it really informs my judgement.
If you smoke weed you’re more likely to wear converse. It’s aesthetics. When someone says they’re anti abortion I usually see it as aesthetics. They want others to see them as being anti abortion. That’s what they get out of it.
It isn’t a literal belief. Democrats reduce abortions, much better than cons. Being anti abortion should mean voting for Democrats… IF you were still taking things literally. It’s not misinformation or lack of education, it’s misaligned priorities.
They’re just trying to be a tribe and signal allegiance. To have literal beliefs that you live by regardless of “your side” is a completely different game to what they’re playing.
How is there 4 posts but one reply? Who said something first, the “bees, not animals” thing?
I’d recommend assassination, in Minecraft. If you’re leaving the server and everything is fucked then do one for the team and cause some heads to roll, in Minecraft. The right used violence and it led to the presidency. A coup was rewarded. Let’s take some notes.
