Recently started using it. Great app. Looking forward to seeing the update.

I’ve been on the Fediverse for years and I’ve never much encountered this. I curate my timelines very carefully. I don’t look at the Local or Federated timelines in Mastodon, Pixelfed, or Lemmy.

That said, I do the exact same thing with all social media. I don’t go to the subreddits that would have such content, don’t follow users on Twitter who spew this content, etc.

I’m not disputing that it’s there, because of course it is. But it’s also there on every other social media platform, and with far more resources these platforms haven’t been able to do nearly anything about it.

I don’t know what the answer is to this propaganda, and I want to make clear that I think it’s awful. But it’s the fault of social media writ large, not the Fediverse.

In fact, I’ve found the Fediverse to be better about calling it out and encouraging defederating offending instances than I’ve seen on traditional social media, which seems to shrug its shoulders at it at best and actively encourages it at worst.

Either I need incontrovertible proof that Bill Belechick’s dog has actually been making the picks for the past few years, or someone else needs to be making use of that #7 (if not better) pick next year.

As a Patriots fan, I couldn’t be more frustrated with how things are going.

It’s clear now that by the time the dynasty was over, Brady was the OC and BB was the DC. That arrangement worked well for them and produced incredible, winning seasons.

When Brady left we should have immediately replaced Josh McDaniels with the best OC money could buy. But we rolled with “we’re smarter than everyone else” for a few years and now the entire thing is a disaster.

I think this is in part Bill’s fault and in part the Krafts’ fault. I think they were right to give Bill a little wiggle room to find his footing after Brady left. But the offense has been atrocious for years and the Krafts should have insisted on (and put up the money for) Bill bringing in top tier talent. We just expected the aura of BB to make things all right.

Bill is a great coach, a great defensive mastermind. But this transition was poorly planned for—either Mac is a bust or is getting terrible coaching and we can’t seem to be able to build even the most basic weapons on offense.

Not a bad idea! I think of works like Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars Trilliogy, which has a pretty significant focus in the second book about what a new style of collaborative governance might look like. Narrative is always the most powerful way to convince people of ideas, so I say go for it!

What an interesting idea. As this project scales, how would you think of getting around the Reddit API limit problem? This sounds pretty API intensive. I also wonder if Reddit might see this as a TOS violation (particularly when the bot was posting comments) and killing it without even reaching an API limit.

That said, I applauded you for trying to think of creative ways to increase content on Lemmy. One thing in particular that I miss are the questions on niche subreddits, particularly hobby subreddits. You can learn so much just by reading others’ questions. Lemmy doesn’t have the user base and reach to support stuff like that yet, so I like that you’re trying to think of ways to increase that content here.

Brady did QB sneaks all the time, and it worked quite well for the Pats. Are QBs more likely to be injured on sneaks? It seems pass plays are the worst for QBs, with potential sacks and hurt knees and ankles trying to get away from the rushers.

I have a Pi4 that is running Homebridge and pihole.

I think it’s what makes finding a franchise QB so hard. It’s not easy to evaluate if someone can make that jump. It’s like with Mac: you would think the clear path from Saban to Belechick would be a good sign for his development. But he’s struggled mightily, and I don’t see it getting better.

As a Pats fan I love Brisket. He had a nice run here back during the Brady suspension/Jimmy G injury thing.

I’d be happy to see Brisket get playing time (even if it is with the Jets), but I don’t think he makes the Jets a Super Bowl contender.

You’re entirely right, the NFL has terrible QB depth right now. I think it’s in part that there is this class of QBs that took or are taking forever to retire (e.g., Brady) and they pushed out young talent over the years. I think we’re in store for a period of more turnover in QB, and I hope it means greater depth.
