Maybe Fishmans? I also prefer Carrie & Lowell live over the studio version.

Banger of a song, and their only song after Whenever, If Ever that I really care about.
It makes me so happy when I see someone else recommending Brìghde! I got sold on The Reeling years ago because I read about it on Quietus, and she has been a fav of mine ever since.
Radiohead! Proceed with caution, not all of their albums are rock music.
I’m one of the weirdos buying into the hype of black midi, BCNR and Squid as well. Give them a shot. black midi is probably the most experimental of the bunch.
There’s also Interpol, Arcade Fire, The National: the usual suspects. Dismemberment Plan, The Mars Volta, Porcupine Tree. Some more recent indie rock: Pinegrove, Hop Along, Indigo de Souza.
Your mileage may vary, of course, but they’re some of my favorites.
One of my favorite tracks from that record!
Absolutely fantastic song, and somehow not even the best track on that album.
Of course, I don’t mind listening to the occasional album that’s outside my tastes, if there’s some historical or cultural significance to it. Which seems to be what the list is going for. Plus, 1001 is a LOT of albums, there’s bound to be some duds.
Listened to From Elvis In Memphis today as per this website’s suggestion. I didn’t enjoy it as much as his debut album, but there were a couple of great songs on it regardless (I wasn’t a huge fan of In The Ghetto, surprisingly).
I’ve always found it interesting that I cannot stand Nine Inch Nails on my BT headphones, but I really enjoy The Downward Spiral on my father’s good studio headphones.
Those are all fair points! I guess my priorities are just different, in the sense that I care about the convenience of having to carry just one device in my pocket.
On the topic of audiophiles, does quality really have such a big effect on the enjoyability of a song? Personally I’m perfectly fine with listening to 320kbps or even 256kbps through Bluetooth headphones.
I see very little reason to use these over a regular smartphone 🤔 but the same is true for watches and people still rock those as well, so you do you! It does look like a nifty gadget.
Signed up today, got an awesome Aretha Franklin album to listen to. Excited for tomorrow’s album already!
Damn I never really looked into the meanings of the songs on that album, even though I quite enjoy it. Got any more insights?
Any recommendations? I only know AJJ
I’m not sure how I’d feel about that song being completed and released now. Not that I’m against it, just… Confused.
Gotta admit I’ve also been sleeping on Room on Fire, been too preoccupied with Is This It and The New Abnormal.
God that vid makes me understand why that song “Moves Like Jagger” was written, dude had stage presence for sure.
I’ve never really given the Stones the time of day, but the same was true about the Beatles a while back and now they’re one of my favorites - so maybe it’s time to give the Rolling Stones a chance one of these days (that whole rivalry between fans of the two bands is just silly nonsense of course).
That sounds like a wild combination of genres! Do you have any idea what their work process is like?
The self-titled album felt like the story of an innocent boy, Helplessness Blues felt like that boy was heading out into the big world, and Crack-Up feels like the consequences of that, and the loss of innocence.
Fool’s Errand is one of the best tracks on that record for sure.
