Gotcha.
Gotcha.
That’s not the point.
Your surveyor story sounds like something a christian apologist would say, or someone who doesn’t know the difference between science and religion.
Even stone age people knew the difference between East and West. If a surveyor incorrectly used a compass his work could still be verified by looking at a goddamn sunrise. If the surveyor ignored the conflicting data and, as you say “put his faith in his instruments”, it ceases to be the scientific method and becomes dogmatic fanaticism.
Upstate, downstate, all around state. Anywhere outside of large urban centers-state.
It’s the same all around America. Further from the cities you get, the more you find people exhibiting inexplicable Southern affectation, MAGA cultism and general shitheel behavior. Like, there are portions of North East OH that are geographically closer to Canada than the Mason Dixon Line, yet they’re still flying traitor flags and sound more southern than actual southerners.
That last paragraph is chef’s kiss.
Lol. Sure sure.
Oh no. Some myopic hexbear reject goons want to call me a lib. How ever will I go on living.
Yea I too like to infantilize people I dislike, this makes me feel super smug and superior.
They ARE wrong though. They’re acting like we’re only getting mad about one thing at a time. What kind of smug asshole goes on the internet to peddle moral superiority over strawmen?
Scene is (was) a relatively decent periodical in the Cleveland area. It’s mostly an ad mill, with ~50% of their page space going to advertising, but they’ve also done a decent job of covering local news. And don’t talk shit about Discount Drug Mart. They save you the runaround.
We’re reaching a French revolution type point in American history. There are people who are the product of absurd privilege, and there is everyone else.
This is tipping the scales a little bit back out of the favor of privilege. In the grand scheme, it’s effectively misguided and miniscule. But it’s a sign of progress nonetheless.
Our legal system sucks ass. There’s no reason why so much of our population should be imprisoned for relatively minor reason… but we’re also used to money being more important than culpability. Affluenza, rapists getting off because it would be detrimental to their future to be held accountable, or generally rich people being able to pay for their crimes financially instead of punitively.
So when someone from a perceived place of privilege is actually held to the same standards as one of us serfs, it’s usually celebrated. It sucks, but it’s true.
This thread more of an indictment of our shitty legal system than of the defendant.
Needs more songs about the prostitute with a short leg.
My first and middle name are the first and last name of a very famous comedian/actor/writer. I was born in 79 during the height of his wild crazyness but my dad swears up and down that it had nothing to do with the choice of names. I’m just very happy this particular comedian is still a beloved and respected figure with no major scandals or skeletons.
Thats a quality pen.
What pen did you buy?
Brooklyn is right by Parma. Parma is known by locals as having a high concentration of, as you put it, “right leaning poors”. We just call them racists. But they’re mostly boomers who are dieing out.
That whole area of Cleveland suburbs is pretty interesting. It’s a lot of diverse blue collar neighborhoods surrounded by more affluent areas. I’m honestly surprised by this story, as the youth of the area tend to be pretty progressive.
Spiritual faith and faith in the scientific method are not the same.
Scientific knowledge is SUPPOSED to be challenged and changed as we gain new information. Religious faith is expected to be accepted without question and regardless of information.
