we’re not wasting any tax money on this, taxes do not actually fund the US government’s spending. This will not harm military production, the money used to buy labor to do these investigations will not eat into the labor pool and capital that would help with military production
if one party will commit political suicide like that it really would be the dems lol
What else are people gonna choose? Third party?
if 1 party does it unilaterally, the other party will win the next x elections very very easily. if they both do it together, I think that would be unironically very dangerous for the empire. the american left, as much as I despise ourselves, is the strongest it’s been since the 60s/70s, instituting the draft would be enough of a major boon for us, that even with our dubious theoretical and organizational capacity, could begin to be a major nuisance to the ruling class (just expanding on what i mean)
it will be political suicide for whichever party decides to do it, and will create a new spring of radicalization on top of giving potential radicals military training. if they decide to do it in a bipartisan way it will be even worse for radicalization. I think people forget that the ruling class didn’t end the draft because they wanted to, they had to, the rate of fragging in vietnam became ridiculous
try and pay attention to China honestly. the seriousness they treat climate change with is the only thing that gives me hope that we’ll beat it. some examples from very recently:

China adds new clean power equivalent to UK’s entire electricity output
Shanghai to fully switch to new energy buses, taxis by 2027
