What do you even do in a situation like this? If I saw my child fall from a ferry there is no way I wouldn’t jump in after even if I knew it was certain death. I can’t imagine living on just doing nothing!
You can disable flash-backs in snap in you Snapchat settings under “memories”
Our pitchforks and torches aren’t very effective against drone robot mech guardians equipped with machine gun turrets 🔫🤖
I’m excited about the fact that people who are anti-corporate usually are the same people that will moderate and build community for free just because they want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. If all content creators and moderators find their home here Reddit will only have takers and lurkers left!
I know I’m being naive but I’m enjoying my little dream of utopia 😄
Awesome that you have joined the fediverse! So, just like email can send messages from hotmail to Gmail, the fediverse is built on a standard allowing social media services to interact with each other. The services built on the fediverse aren’t necessarily the same and they haven’t quite solved it for all the services. Mastodon is a microblogging service that behaves similar to twitter. And startrek.website has a forum like structure. I’m currently answering your post with my account on lemmy.world from where I found your post. The more we use this, the better the services will learn how to interconnect! Welcome to the fediverse😊
For me it’s trust. Do I trust the hosts of lemmy.world to host my data? Do I trust they behave responsibly in their domain so that they one day aren’t blocked from other large instances? Can I invest my data in this instance and build my internet points within their service? What happens if all my points are lost because they get hacked or one day just close down? Gathering internet points is hard work and it has a lot of benefits. As you might have noticed, some people are considering selling their 10 year old Reddit accounts to spam bot farms. They will pay good money for a credible and old account.
Our world is changing. Having a job in the traditional way is just one way to create value. Picking the right instance might one day be like picking an employer. What values do you want to build? Who do you want to invest your time and energy into?
