Unsure of your preferences with games, but Shattered Pixel Dungeon is free, offline, no ads, and the only purchases are for aesthetics to support the app. It’s an 8-bit rogue like, and never the same game twice.

I’d hate to be a bartender near a college this weekend.
I played the hell out of this game back in the day. Still love it.
Extra points for it for the frisbee catching dog bonus game.

Ay, I’m being gay ova here!
For me, this controller (neo Geo pad) worked so much better than anything else out there at the time, short of an arcade stick. The directional pad is what I wish all others would at least attempt to do, rather than four individual buttons.
Add to it, some of us habitual lurkers (me for example) find it not as meaningless to comment. Didn’t want to do it often because most comments get buried and it would feel empty and kinda pointless.
The Master System version included a hidden level and boss that I don’t believe were on any other ports. I could be completely wrong, as I’m going off memory from a long time ago.
That hidden level was quite difficult for me then. Probably still is.
The Monty Python Spam sketch seems really appropriate for this.
A day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus. One day takes 243 Earth days, while a year takes 225.
Maybe it’s not “well known”, but still interesting in my opinion.
