  • That’s cuz it’s not for the kids, any time they want to shoehorn in some stupid bill, it’s always “for the kids” or “for national security”, so when people rightfully oppose a massive invasion of privacy, they can say “They hate the kids look!”.

It’s a lot easier to defend “Protecting children” than it is to defend what they’re actually wanting to do. If this actually goes through, I honestly probably would just drop off posting things online. I’ve been off Twitter and Facebook for a long time, I left reddit over the 3rd party apps, honestly I just don’t care anymore, I will oppose this 100%, but if it gets passed, I guess I’m just done posting lol

  • I mean the more people that join, the more people that donate. Reddit never got a cent from me directly, but I donated to beehaw when I made my account, and I plan to do it again, as this is just a small (but getting bigger) community, not a company trying to make a profit. They definitely won’t be rolling in money but I think they’ll be able to make it(and I certainly hope so)

  • I’m wiping my account tonight and will be doing an account delete bit right before the black outs.

I honestly don’t think anything would get me to go back. I don’t think I’ll miss my doom scroll app. Lemmy feels much more easy to actually be apart of, and my account can interact with other fedverse stuff, heck yeah.

The only subreddit I’m going to miss that I haven’t seen an alternative of is r/196, so I hope that pops up.
