It is absolutely ai. The experience of talking with chatgpt is so human like that it just blows my mind. What I’ve learned so far is that human brains aren’t nearly as magical as they seem.

I thought the main obstacle was the computing power to update 175 billion neurons with large datasets. You probably could generate a good llm just using Wikipedia, but I think it requires a room full of expensive video cards to do.

Play different games. Walkabout golf is a fantastic multiplayer game. I consider it the killer app. My family plays it regularly.

I wish they’d focus more on releasing VR board games. My family and friends are scattered around the world and VR is fantastic for playing board games with them if only they’d release them.

If the only thing you like playing is FPS games then I guess VR isn’t for you though.

Dark Souls II I am really enjoying it. I think this is my new 2nd favorite souls game after DS1.

I play Switch games while on my treadmill. The split controller works perfectly for that and makes it easy to forget I’m walking.

I only play inverted x and y, but I’m thinking of learning to play both non inverted since it seems to be supported universally, so I wouldn’t need to worry about it.

That said, I never understood why every modern game wouldn’t support both being configurable.

I initially assumed “cozy” meant it would be a casual phone game which obviously would suck. But it’s a Steam and console game, so I’m excited!

If I so much as see a daily reward or a separate currency or an in game store, it gets uninstalled. Those things are guarantees that it sucks.

Everything in this thread so far is normal stuff I could have guessed. Guns, metric, tipping, etc. Most of it has large groups of people in the country that agree, or at least know.

What are some non-obvious things? Culture shock isn’t about major political issues. It’s about universal things that turn out to not be universal.

For example, US people have a strong culture of how standing in line works. It’s basically a moral sin to butt in line unless you have someone holding your place. This is universal in the country. My understanding is that other countries differ. Is that true?

Playing Switch games while walking on a treadmill. I always found exercise boring before, but the split controller of the Switch makes it easy to play while walking.

I have found I don’t even notice I’m walking and look forward to it since I’m actually looking forward to gaming.

Dark Souls while walking is the best. I’ve walked about 140 miles in the last month.

Only thing I care about is that they keep the split controller design. It’s the only controller I can easily use while walking on a treadmill. Holding a controller with two hands while walking is awkward. The split controller allows me to swing my arms normally.

Netflix DVD delivery did, yes. It’s also shutting down in September, which is sad.
