minus-squareHyperreality@kbin.sociallinkfedilinkarrow-up6arrow-down6·1 year ago They can all die as far as they are concerned. … That’s how much the whole situation is fucked up. Very fucked up. Additional examples of how fucked up it is. “From the river to the sea” (Arabic: من النهر إلى البحر min al-nahr ila al-bahr) is, and forms part of, a popular Palestinian political slogan. It has been used by many Palestinian nationalists to assert varying territorial claims as to the boundaries of an independent Palestinian state … certain Islamic scholars have declared the Mahdi - a redemptive apocalyptic figure central to Islamic eschatology - will declare “Jerusalem is Arab Muslim, and Palestine — all of it, from the river to the sea — is Arab Muslim.” An article by former United States ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk and former Jordanian United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid bin Ra’ad in Foreign Policy argued that the insistence of Israeli right-wing Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on curbing the powers of the Supreme Court, stems from a desire to “more easily enact his vision of an Israel that extends unimpeded from river to sea,” as the court had previously impeded the legalization of Israeli settlements built on privately-owned Palestinian land.
