when doing your job is denigrated as “quiet quitting” who wouldn’t be stressed out? I’ve never felt better about putting work last on my priorities than I do now.

Remember when all those Employee Assistance Programs, marketed as ways to get mental and other forms of help for workers, were found to just be sharing data with HR so companies could have reasons to fire you? Cause Pepperidge Farms does.

Never trust your employer with sensitive information.

Who in their right mind would expect employers to deal with their mental problems. Most employers can barely run the business side of their companies properly, expecting bureaucrats to help you deal with emotional problems is like asking a tree for directions in the woods.

Currently in the job hunt after leaving an incredibly toxic work environment (to the point I developed joint pain from the stress).

Though I’m in my mid/late 20s with a valuable and in-demand master’s with ~3-5 years direct job experience, I’ve noticed companies are rapidly becoming more and more focused on bleeding workers dry. This is even in the interview process. 3 month waiting period for any sort of benefit, 6 month trial periods, “tests” to be done during the application process with no ability to discern if individuals are cheating and/or unfairly advantaged. You name it.

I’ve watched talented and young professionals even in their mid 30s become suicidal from how miserable and pointless so many jobs are. Bear in mind, many of these people are credentialed and very passionate individuals in their fields.

I’m unsure where we’re going in the private sector but with the rapid rate of unionization - or at least rising sympathies towards so - I fully expect the working environment to become more shitty with time.

You are misunderstanding - but it’s kinda my fault. I’m sorry! I meant to imply that companies are seeing a rise in union membership/desire amongst workers and will start to clamp down as much as possible to squeeze profit ASAP.

Because our in person network has been shrinking since digital social media.
