Looks like it will take some time to figure it out, but the developer ljdawson is looking into Lemmy support for sync.
This app is so smooth, and caching posts and comments for offline use while on the plane or in low reception areas is a clutch feature for me.
Very cool. This will also increase viewership for Lemmy.
Fantastic! Used Sync for quite awhile and it’s a great app. Had some bumps in development here and there, but who doesn’t and they overcame them.
Normal Sync is okay but Sync Pro is really really good. I’ve been using it nearly 5 years until this api fiasco. This is so exciting.
This is great news, I’ve used sync for so many years
Jerboa has been great (especially for being an alpha build) but sync has so many comfort features
Does anyone know about the ios Sync app? It never seemed to get out of TestFlight. I’m assuming it was a different developer who got permission to reuse assets?
From what I remember it that is true, he let another developer give it a shot since he had no interest/experience in IOS development. Maybe he’ll do it again and a more dedicated developer will be able to complete the port this time.
It’s a third party Reddit app for Android. One of the many that are getting killed off by the API changes. A lot of people liked it because it has a much better UI than the official Reddit app and I’m sure plenty of people will love getting to bring the same experience over to Lemmy now.
I’m admittedly jealous. I’d love if Apollo pivoted to Lemmy as well but I don’t blame Christian at all for taking a step away from things after becoming the face of the 3PA developers in this entire debacle. Hopefully at least one of the several iOS Lemmy apps currently in-development can provide something familiar.
Cool! I don’t know much about sync but, I’d definitely try this out.
Sync is one of the oldest 3rd party Reddit apps. So this is really good for Lemmy.
Will it work for us kbin folks,or will we need to make a lemmy account on one of the instances?
He’s just learning about Lemmy and the fediverse today so I imagine in the alpha version it won’t but things could change later.
If he’s learning about Lemmy and kbin together than it would seem that implementing both would be higher probability
Kbin is very new, and the api is not very documented, so I imagine it’d be pretty hard to make an app for kbin for now.
OK, getting back to the original post and its image, what the hell is Sync? How is Sync Pro different?
