I had been thinking about this community style being missing from Lemmy recently and making one here. There are enough amateur OC posters already where I think it would get off the ground quite nicely.

It’s not so much the “communities” but the utter lack of participation in the exiting ones. I understand that Lemmy is much smaller but too many NSFW communities are basically dormant.

Of course I agree about the spamming but too many groups on Lemmy, not just NSFW, die a slow death. They may start out with a good amount of subscribers. There is daily activity. Then you see things like last post was 4 months ago. I had put the time in to create some groups on Lemmy. But they slowly died as I became the only poster. I no longer even visit them and only spend my time in a few Lemmy groups that continue to have active participation.

Theres a lot of bots that grab stuff from reddit, and just link the reddit post.
This then requires one to login to reddit, which if i wanted to look at stuff there… I would just go there.
So it would be nice if they just posted the content directly, or even not at all.
Yeah, I’ve noticed the bots sharing popular Reddit posts in several communities I like (mostly SFW ones). On one hand, it’s a good thing if the content attracts users to Lemmy and eliminates the need for them to seek it out on Reddit, at least until Lemmy is large enough to have more original content. On the other hand, I don’t like the dependency on Reddit or the idea of people’s NSFW pics being spread without their knowledge or permission (even though I know it’s an inevitable risk for those who post it).
I wonder if we should launch a campaign to clone reddit content ?

Both of these will be dedicated amateur spaces, now we just need posters to get them off the ground a bit.

We’ve got gay and trans communities, we’ve got BDSM communities, why not a gay BDSM community?
Why does bdsm have to have a gender or sexual orientation? Why can’t it just be about 1 human loving to beat the hell out of another human, and that other human loving being beaten?
Not to diminish the fact that BDSM is queer in general, I think it’s possible to erase communities through ignorance. Everyone defaults to cis-het white, generally maledom stuff, which makes a lot of people lose interest. You can say you’re gender-blind, but I’ve only seen cis-looking women as the focus on that board, and I don’t find that terribly stimulating.
There’s plenty of F-on-F and I agree with you, some M on M would be great. I just like to see guy Doms controlling anyone, so M/sub of any gender I do enjoy.

I notice that you say users can DM their personal information, and I need to warn you and your users that DMs are not private on lemmy. I don’t know more than that, but I suspect that it’s because DMs are federated and anyone can fire up an instance and be an admin.
