The “Fighting Oligarchy Tour” rallies headlined by Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can become something much bigger — if Bernie and AOC direct their rally attendees into sustained organizing efforts against Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

It needs to become a mass movement or it’s game over for 'murca.

Better get on it then :-)

Get out your door and rally people who wouldn’t normally be rallied. Get people who are fed up with politics being rubbish, excited about this new one! Bring 'murica a new vision, to a town or rural corner that B&A can’t reach in person.

… Also I just realised that abbreviating Bernie Sanders’ name is a bit awkward

They could become a mass movement if people are able to move past Sanders and AOC and start organizing under an org like PSL.

Let those horrible libs get what they deserve.
They are too dumbed down to know what’s good for them and hate ‘the left’ even more than Trump.

Well, why not? Trump came in this time because lots of people really did vote for him. I don’t believe the scaremongering that there won’t be elections next whenever-it-is, unless society (not just Trump’s governmental and judicial meddling) breaks down before then. So, get some support around you for a new way of voting! Get your Republican and conservative friends to believe in this new chance! Get the many, many disenfranchised would-have-otherwise-been-dem-voters to sign up for this new way, and vote this time!

Seriously. Like sure it’s a half-decent start I guess, barely, but AOC and Sanders are still centrist liberals. Kicking the can down the road by keeping capitalism alive will get us right back here in the future.

It’s incredibly depressing that this country is in a state where people genuinely believe these two are anywhere left of center

We’ve been through this before. Don’t fall for it. Learn from your mistakes.

They’re doing damage control for the Dems. People are leaving the party in droves, so they trotted out their token progressives to pretend the party can be reformed. They’re also floating the idea of starting a completely new party, which would presumably direct members to the Dems for elections, or else they’d be advocating joining with existing leftist parties.

Bernie & AOC also still fervently support the military industry. They’re both defending arming far right extremists and proxy wars.

Learn from your mistakes and do what, exactly?

Begging your pardon, but your reply sounds like, “oh no, don’t try to reform your party, because that’s just damage control; and don’t try to make a new party, became you’ll just send people to the old one.” At least they can try, right? It’s better than nothing?

And as to your objections to their support for the military, a) those of us who support Ukraine would still like America to have a military, and to use it well; and b) what’s your alternative? Can you field another candidate/pair/group to lead America into a vision you believe in? Please do!

FWIW, there are already other parties which should be filling this role. But, as some other comments have mentioned, organizing under a political party like PSL is probably the best way forward, since they aren’t just focused on electoral tactics but instead focusing on the power we have as workers and as communities (the electoral system was broken long before Trump took power, it would be foolish to pretend 2027 will be any more viable than Germany’s elections after the Nazi Party took control).

Derail one, more like. Giving people a cathartic rally, yell some slogans, present fuck all in the way of alternatives.

Until they tell voters to ditch the democratic party outright, they’re just sheepdogs doing what they’re there to do.

If electoralism wasn’t dead in the US before, it certainly is now. We’re like 2 months in and Trump is already trying alter state run polling rules directly at the federal level by executive order.

I think it is hillarious that they are holding rallies without even presenting a plan. How stupid are people to keep faling for this. You can hold up a sign and scream some words against Trump. Come 2028 they find out that oopsie we did not work on any alternative movement, time to vote for Hillary again!
