I think it’s more along the lines of “trans people are so different they make me uncomfortable and afraid, and we need to keep them away.” If they realize the harm that causes, they simply don’t prioritize it relative to their personal comfort and perceived safety. Very few people are the raging psychopaths your line of thinking implies.
