I mean, if he actually wants to do it and the give him the creative control for it then he remains as good a choice as he was originally to my mind. The Hobbit being a mess had a lot of studio meddling fingerprints on it, and it seems like there is a cash grab going on after Christopher Tolkien’s passing.
I agree. Being directed by Peter Jackson is not the slam dunk it once was (in my mind). I know the Hobbit was a mess for several reasons that weren’t his fault, but there was plenty he did have control over that I didn’t like.
