I suspect the worst mechanic I ever went to was running some sort of funny operation. They rigged the emissions test. They also were impossible to get in contact with. Every time I went by after the first, they were always working on at least one cop car. Oops, chose the wrong mechanic.

Switched as soon as I could. But their impossibly bad availability, lack of knowledge by the owners regarding their own services and payment processing, and the fact that the cops are known to be a mafia in the area, and the see-through unbelievable charisma bullshit from the owner once I gave him a single compliment - among I’m sure some other flags I’m forgetting now - gave me the impression something extra was happening. Maybe not. Awful mechanic either way. The car left his possession in worse condition, somehow.
