This site is currently struggling to handle the amount of new users. I have already upgraded the server, but it will go down regardless if half of Reddit tries to join.

However Lemmy is federated software, meaning you can interact seamlessly with communities on other instances like beehaw.org or lemmy.one. The documentation explains in more detail how this works. Use the instance list to find one where you can register. Then use the Community Browser to find interesting communities. Paste the community url into the search field to follow it.

You can help other Reddit refugees by inviting them to the same Lemmy instance where you joined. This way we can spread the load across many different servers. And users with similar interests will end up together on the same instances. Others on the same instance can also automatically see posts from all the communities that you follow.

Edit: If you moderate a large subreddit, do not link your users directly to lemmy.ml in your announcements. That way the server will only go down sooner.

Sounds like you’re just butthurt that LGBT people have a safe place online where they can just exist and not be met with hatred, buddy.

Ya, that read more like hate towards LGBT than anything else…

They said beehaw is a problem, then followed that up with 3 statements: they’re too nice, half of them are lgbt, and they banned lemmygrad / are too ban-happy.

Am I supposed to assume the first and last thing mentioned are reasons beehaw is bad but the middle thing isn’t?

People like to be indirect with lgtbq+ hate a lot of the time, too, unless they feel comfortably surrounded by people who agree. So, misunderstands are certainly possible, but often in my experience it’s just plausible deniability as a shield against criticism.

People like to be indirect with lgtbq+

I would say people think that there are only saints in LGBTQ* community, there could not have assholes or some having bad soft skills. It’s known there are no introverts in the community, noooo. For the other, I could name two asshole LGBT* person: Sarah Sharp (FOSS) and Ellen DeGeneres (People).

So, misunderstands are certainly possible, but often in my experience

In my experience, I have seen more unjustified cancelling than real one and you are, here, doing the same. In no way /u/X77 was saying what you accuse him of.

No longer than yesterday, a person from Beehaw posted an illustration of a rainbow road roller truck driving over people tagged family, catholic, etc… not much of an issue, for you? Or maybe it is but this would have been a ban to MARS not just a “oh, this is not totally right or it is no meant to be blah-blah-blah…”.

Well, when you cut off on the nuance, keep a black and white mindset, it’s problematic. Remember the : “You are with us or against us”
