I watched this movie last night and I absolutely loved it. Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones both killed it. The pacing was perfect and intense. It was all around an amazing film. I wondered why it didn’t win best picture that year until I saw who did win it.
I saw this in the theaters when it came out. It was a huge breakout role for Ford at the time, who had been kinda locked into Indiana Solo roles previously. It was also the beginning of Tommy Lee Jones getting attention from a larger audience - a lot of the roles he was cast in afterwards were because of his performance in the Fugitive.
Great movie, tight script, and probably Ford’s best performance of his career when it comes to acting quality. Glad to see it’s got a following - thanks!
I didn’t realize how many films Ford had been in besides Star Wars, Indy, and blade runner. He’s got a lot more depth than I gave him credit for.
Oh yeah, he’s got a bunch of films that get kinda overlooked these days due to all his franchise work. You might like Regarding Henry, it’s a slow burn character drama, worth a watch. Might make you cry.
Also, Frantic is a good “American in trouble in Europe” thriller if you don’t mind that Roman Polanski filmed it.
I thought he was fantastic in Shrinking recently
Witness is a classic.
I don’t know if “breakout” is necessarily correct.
If you look at the films before this:
Patriot Games
Regarding Henry
Presumed Innocent
(Last Crusade)
Working Girl
Frantic
Mosquito Coast
Witness
Those films alone would be a career for most actors.
