I was just curious as its easier to access a mobile app then opening a browser and going to beehaw
(I know it sounds like I’m being lazy as I could make a shortcut however, the more lazy you can be to access the site the more people will be willing to be active as each step that has to be taken to access something a percantage of people will not do that step (I wish I knew what effect/ rule this was i can’t seem to find it))

Soon, we may be able to use any of the reddit apps.
For the moment, short term, this is a good initiative. But I don’t think it’s a sustainable approach for app developers. Any man in the middle is a potential source of failure.
Yeah, I don’t think this is intended for long term, but getting some of the good apps on lemmy would be a huge step forward from jerboa.
That’s a pretty cool approach, I hope the old reddit apps stay up for that.
@Arystique I heard about it https://f-droid.org/packages/com.jerboa/
Downloaded this, Kinda neat. kinda feels like im being flashbanged everytime i change pages though.
It could definitely be smoothed out a fair bit.
I’m not yet familiar enough with Lemmy interactions to understand the ways that it’s lacking, but I see a lot of simple UI improvements that would make a world of difference.
It’s a start!
Its seems like a good app in concept but I still find it a bit lacking in features and polish. Thankfully the amount of people working on it has skyrocketed, so I imagine it should be pretty functional in the near future.
It keeps saying “wrong credentials” when I try to log in. Has anyone had the same issue and found a solution ?
Yeah, it happened to me.
I tried again later and it worked, so no idea what the issue was, unfortunately.

Jerboa
Mlem has been a good option for me on my phone so far.
Yes, I am using mlem. The only problem I had was an issue with setting up testflight — I had to copy and paste the code from the URL that mlem gives you
In iOS, I opened it in Safari, then made a shortcut. It works okay, with the exception of the navigation buttons. I’m kinda working around it for now.
There are two mobile apps, one for Android and one for iOS. Check here: https://join-lemmy.org/apps/
Mlem is still in test flight, not on the app store yet.
You might be able to save the website as a progressive web app to your home screen?
This is what I’ve done and at this point, I prefer to Jerboa, feels exactly like an app.
Same, the only thing that seem to be a bit hit and miss in Jerboa, is the search for communities. Yesterday evening when I tried it, it didn’t work. Now it is working again. Not sure if it’s caused by a server being overload provided by Jerboa or it’s my instance that was / is a bit fiddly.
edit: grammar is hard yo
If it’s the first time that has been searched by a user of your instance, it takes time. Subsequent people using it and searches will be quicker.
@SuitedUpDev@feddit.nl is right, basically.
Oh thats clever
I see that with both the web interface and Jerboa, in any case reloading or searching again will make it show up for me
Same for me. My uneducated guess is, that it probably has something to do with the propagation of data between instances. But that’s a “problem” that will sort itself out once more users (and thus more initiated search queries) will hit the instances.
