A remake for the PoP series I suppose could make sense. Hell, even for the first AC. But Black Flag? Is that game even older than 10 years? I think Ubisoft has no idea what is doing anymore.

Because it’s easy. They’ll just slap some more postprocessing and maybe higher resolution textures and call it remaster. Media and everyone will talk about it and it will sell since it’s a beloved game. Easy money.

It’s 10 years old, and as old as The Last of Us, which has gotten a remaster and a remake. What’s the issue?

Maybe I am getting old, but from my perspective, a game should be remade to port it from a very old gen (early 2000s or even the nineties) and for nostalgia reasons. I don’t feel like Black Flag fits this criteria. It still feels pretty close to current gen games. Imagine if the same happens to Witcher 3. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Yeah but remaking an even older game means all new models, all new textures, reworking audio etc. Thats basically a whole new game at that point its tons of work.

Remake a 10 year old game? You can upscale some textures, rework a few models, rework the lighting and add some tweaks and it refreshes it to the point where its more palletable to current gen gamers without needing insane dev time.

I honestly don’t mind it myself, I like that the games get a little extended shelf life. If the price is low enough then I’m down for it.
