they could have just demanded alcoholic beverage companies to monitor their bottles, right?

☞ “The development of TrackerControl was led by Konrad Kollnig (University of Oxford). The underlying network analysis functionality is provided by the NetGuard Firewall, developed by Marcel Bokhorst.”
if you tried both, you would see that they are basically the same app.
it’s illegal to sell alcohol to kids, right? Would you consider that too as “banning kids from accessing them”?
even “crash course” alone is enough of a reason to keep YouTube accessible
You don’t (lawfully) ban kids from parts of the library because you are worried they might read about things you don’t like, y…
libraries are carefully curated. Popular “social media” of today is a shit show.
This is the equivalent of banning kids talking to each other at school, on the bus or at the mall/park.
no, it’s not “equivalent” to that at all. Are they banning messengers?
Kids in schools talk through game chat anyways. Are they banning games in Australia?
☞ “Exemptions will apply for health and education services including YouTube, Messenger Kids, WhatsApp, Kids Helpline and Google Classroom.”
this ban is not directed at kids, it’s targeting “big tech”.
even YouTube got in an exception list. So it’s not an “all or nothing” approach, it seems.
that has nothing to do with netGuard though.
you can either uninstall gms 👍 or filter it’s connections with netGuard by enabling “manage system apps” from “advanced options”
it takes some time but people get on signal when you explain it’s advantages over whatsApp.
i had only one contact on signal when i started using it. Now almost all my contacts are on it.
it helps if people care about you and rather die than write an email 🙃
it not a good option to “block” internet connection on android.
why it not good? what you disappoint?
if social media is fediverse, you’re right; if social media is agents of surveillance capitalism, fuck social media
what’s “social” about what most people call social media?
“freedom” of kids and teenagers to rot their immature brains on “social media”?
freedom to be manipulated by Zuckerberg and his minions?
freedom to learn what a “real man” is from sexist assholes
freedom to develop bottomless insecurities before constructing a semblance of a “self” to get you through the grit of societies
at least they recognize the problem and … pass hopeless laws 🤷
thanks
and, yes, you’re probably right
iirc, emergency services do not get your location from your telephone’s gps, but through towers that it’s connected to
even a dumbPhone can be located through it’s cell connection
can you explain your reasoning for this comment?
for weather you should check sources the app use.
with https://f-droid.org/packages/org.breezyweather/ you have options to choose from (Izzy droid version has more)

lego blocks will never be irrelevant!
reminds me of
Should you be eating poison oak? Probably not. But Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz decided to try anyway, putting his body — and specifically his butt — on the line to answer a seemingly straightforward question: Is it possible to build up a tolerance to poison oak by eating it?
you can do the same with netGuard 👍
