Same for me as well. Voyager and lemmy instances are what filled that immediate reddit void for me.

kobra@lemm.eeto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do De-Transitioners validate some right wing talking points?2·1 month agoI mean the states tried to ban alcohol because it led to catastrophe for some, and you can see how that turned out.
Prohibition of anything doesn’t really work.
Yeah I’m learning that any social media just isn’t worth it.
Sort of, but I lose the history on this account and have to start over. All of my saved posts won’t come, so I have to manually comb through and save what I want to save. I guess shame on me for diving into such a new and underdeveloped platform but damn.
I’ve been around just as long and definitely didn’t see more than the 1 round so I’m not sure how I missed the other posts. Doesn’t matter now I guess.
I only saw that asked once, and from what I saw they got volunteers at the time.
I don’t think this is correct. I’m on lemmee and I’m probably just done at this point. I don’t have the energy to migrate to another instance and set things up just to have that instance close up shop again later.
kobra@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Voyager users, how many up/downvotes do you have recorded on me?43·1 month agoTIL that’s a thing. It wasn’t even turned on for me

Last I heard, the thread account/user has to opt in to the federation. So unless the account has done that, you won’t see their posts from a mastodon server.
Red Dead Redemption 2 story. Every time I go back and play through it provides a month+ of joy and comfort.
American Truck Sim is a good one too.
kobra@lemm.eeto News@lemmy.world•New Bill Would Make All Pornography a Federal Crime in the U.S.481·2 months agoOkay so previously I would’ve thought this is performative with no chance of it passing. However states have already passed laws that require proving ID to sites like pornhub before you can access and I am SHOCKED that they did it.
People in these areas are either using VPN, verifying an account with pornhub, or just not using pornhub. All 3 of which would be absolutely surprises to me but it’s gotta be one of them, right?
kobra@lemm.eetoUnited States | News & Politics@midwest.social•Middle schooler hospitalized after popular TikTok trend; will face criminal charges9·2 months agoI definitely saw people take foil gum wrappers and put them in electrical outlets to short them. It only happened a handful of times throughout my childhood but even without social media, it still happened.
I assume shorting a lithium ion battery is quite a bit more dangerous though.
I wonder if demonstration/education is part of the solution? Like, every kid should know what it looks like, what usually happens vs. what could happen. Take away all they mystery and curiosity? You’ll still have general vandals but I would hope that number is very small.
kobra@lemm.eeto News@lemmy.world•Marjorie Taylor Greene declines to challenge Jon Ossoff in Georgia Senate race8·2 months agoThe way she words some of this makes it sound like she wants a NEW senate created, one “that works”.
You don’t have any place for outgoing mail?? That’s wild. Most people in houses just clip outgoing mail to their mailbox for the postman to pick up. I would’ve assumed apartments always had an outgoing box if they’re using one of those walls of mailboxes.

kobra@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•“No Apple tax means we will lower prices” - Proton announces lower prices for users by up to 30% after US ruling against Apple feesEnglish11·2 months agolol that is done with money, not social media posts. A CEO should know that.
kobra@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some of the stupidest, **non-political** takes you've seen on the fediverse?101·2 months agoI think the annoying kids in restaurants stereotype we’re talking about are usually when the parents of the kids are ignoring the behavior rather than trying to teach their kids anything.
Your ideal scenario here is fine but 99% of the time when I’m super irritated at kids its because the parents are ignoring and/or downplaying the affect their kids have on other people.
FWIW I am not enjoying the Proton app experience. I can’t favorite servers so I have to manually search and connect to the location I want each time.
Happy birthday!
2 years ago I chose lemm.ee because I was worried about the popularity of .world and whether they would be able to survive that or not.
Turns out I was very wrong and you all have done fine while I am faced with the very situation I was trying to avoid.
