It’s typically a US chain practice, but I see it in Canada since we have plenty of Walmarts and Costcos and the like here, I did see it at Hudson’s Bay do it on at least one occasion. Not sure about Europe, not common in Japan since their return policies are different and final sale products tend to use a sticker instead.

Rentlar@lemmy.cato Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The small scale of Lemmy's active user base is never more evident than in the absence of active members in all the sports related communities.6·2 days agoOn lemmy.ca we have semi-active Hockey pages, especially due to the playoffs, check out !hockey@lemmy.ca, and some of the team pages get occasional posts. The advantage of being a lemmy.ca user is that you will encounter small sports team and small Canadian city page posts more often in local feed.
I think before a Buffalo Bills page takes off we need a relatively active American football page. But sports commentary is not very intriguing to me and feels very formulaic: “Go [team name] Go”, “Coach [name] sucks”, “Next season we’ve drafted [name] to our team”, etc. etc.
Serious answer: Many stores have their price end in 6 or 8 to indicate items that are final sale. So it is clearance as in they don’t want it back, but really the price didn’t nominally change.
Points for the creative title…
However this unidentified new account acting as a rumour mill is suspicious. I don’t doubt feddit is removing posts liberally that could get investigated under German law whether those posts may or may not be breaking it, if the first half of the post was the drama I’d be okay with it. However, trying to tie a bunch of other speculation to the drama makes this post weird imo.
In Japan they have two types of dates, which map to “Use by” and “Best before”, but they don’t use them interchangeably or some vague middle-of-the-road term like “expiry date”. One is operative, the other is a recommendation.
消費期限 (shouhi-kigen) literally means “consumption time limit” and 賞味期限 (shoumi-kigen) literally means “guarantee of taste time limit”.

My microwave does that… in online chats my friends heard the beeping through my microphone, and still have had to remind me to take it out before too.

I wasn’t sure if they were passing leased cars as new, but it sounds like they didn’t do that and instead were just removing artificial paywalls when they took it back to extract more cash.
I would like more unity with people who share alignment with me. Except for anyone who has a slightly different opinion than me on certain issues, screw those people.

No. I overcook my meat but I don’t really care since I don’t eat it that often at home. Just another thing to wash up afterward.
Rentlar@lemmy.cato FediLore + Fedidrama@lemmy.ca•Ada will not defederate lemmy.ml at present6223·7 days agoI find that trashing on all of Lemmy development and lemmy.ml from nutomic’s one questionable stance to be a little idiotic, but that’s just my opinion. Those things are the work of more than just one person. Dessalines is a heavy lifter in moderation and development, and they’re pretty decent. Various contributors have provided code/features, translations, apps and interfaces to Lemmy. Moderators of all server types have their own opinions on stuff.
But to an extent we all have to put that aside, because face it, perfectly sanitized opinions have nothing to do with code quality. We all have a couple shitty opinions, but what makes someone a decent human being and not a bigot is recognizing where their actions and opinions cause harm unto others and try to minimize that. This harm reduction can include changing actions and opinions, but it can also be keeping harmful actions and opinions away from people it would harm. This is where Ada probably sees banning nutomic from the instance as sufficient rather than all of .ml
Yeah, the whole China/Russia can do no wrong sort of thing is a pervasive problem on Lemmy.ml, but likewise they keep moderation of that to within the confines of their instance. The running costs of a server are virtually nothing compared to cost of working full-time to maintain software, so most donations don’t really go to hosting the .ml server itself but rather to development. I don’t personally agree with the .ml admins on many things, but I’ll defend them for allowing others to run online communities how they want in return for letting every one of us do the same. I’ve likewise defended Ada’s decisions on how they want to root out transphobia from their server, that’s their choice, and so far it seems to have served Blahaj users well.
Sorry if I’m suspecting you wrongly. I’ve become more suspicious of some posts on the asklemmy communities lately.
Seems like a karma-farming type of question. Receiving lots of upvotes doesn’t get you anything here.
Pros:
- it makes weed cheaper, safer
- you know exactly what you’re getting since there’s no incentive to illegally lace weed with other dangerous stuff
- less need to prosecute drug possession “crimes” that hurt nobody
- It makes it less appealing to young kids because the dangerous aspect is removed
Cons:
- Weed smells bad to many people, there are complaints from a lot who visit about how open weed smoking make some places smell awful
- Legal Grow op greenhouses cause a lot of light pollution which is an annoyance for the local population
- Some weed smokers joke around saying weed was more fun when it was illegal.
- Harder to enforce impairment since weed takes much longer to stop registering on tests than you are affected by it
I’m not a regular smoker, I think we are better off having it legal though.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, but it would be better if you could couple your statement actions Democrat politicians should take (e.g. bring up bills in support of Palestine, put a Palestinian flag up somewhere, etc.), rather than simply complain they aren’t doing anything.
Your options (pick any combination you please):
