  • Some states require front plates.

Blocking a plate with a bike rack isn’t a bad idea, except - a) the rack will wear your paint, b) any automated toll collection based on license plate reading will also be blocked. Probably NBD once in while, but if someone regularly skips tolls and is caught it’s gonna hurt. They just had a toll-skipper sting near me where they caught a crapton of people who regularly skipped tolls with license plate blockers and temp tags. They lost their cars instantly, a few got slapped with 6-figure fines and fees, and I imagine jail time might be on the menu for some.

  • Because they want to exhaust the person engaging in a good faith discussion. It’s far more labor intensive to have to look for, find, verify for contextual correctness, quote and link said sources, then argue why one’s position is factually correct.

And all the other person has to do is cite some patently false bullshit in 5 seconds and disregard the argument.

  • But that’s the Right? They talk about rights and personal responsibility, but the fact is they only want rights they can use to keep others down, and to hell with personal responsibility. They want to buy their giant-ass gas guzzlers and not be responsible for the fuel costs, they want coal and natural gas (drill baby, drill) wrecking the environment but don’t want to be responsible when a hurricane wipes out their towns. They want their guns but want the rest of society to be responsible for preventing school shootings. Oh, another school shooting? Ain’t my problem.
