  • A general strike? Protests? Before this election I would have agreed with you. Now… half or more of the workers you’d need to pull that off voted for Trump.

A general strike right now would basically just be leftists self-blacklisting themselves and doing the fascists work for them.

If there’s anything this election has shown, it’s that there’s no unity on the left. Who are we organizing with since it’s clear that the cultists are a lost cause and the left can’t be relied on to show up when it matters most?

  • The left couldn’t be bothered to vote but you think they’re going to riot?

It would have maybe been mobilizing if the election was closer, or if the Dems at least won the popular vote by 5 million again… but this defeat was thorough enough to absolutely crush the morale of anyone who leans even a little bit left. Why should I waste my time and money supporting progressive policies when some people won’t even do the bare minimum to prevent Republicans from establishing a stranglehold on our government and institutions?

If the accelerationists thought that sitting out and handing the election to Trump was going to mobilize the left I’m afraid they’re going to be disappointed. You say there’s still time, but is there? I used to think the “Trump is a fascist” rhetoric was hyperbole until J6 happened, now the proof is on video. Just engaging with these posts on a leftist site could be getting me onto a McCarthy-style blacklist that would prevent me from getting a job.

There’s also a chance that the DNC still won’t get the message and we will do it all again in 2026, 2028, and so on. I guess beatings will continue until morale improves.

  • The Republicans will never reduce the debt because the only cuts that would make a difference are the ones that are the most popular with their voters. Couple that with tax cuts and the math just doesn’t work for deficit and debt reduction with a Republican government.

Are they going to cut Social Security? No, too many older voters that depend on that income. Medicare? Nope, same thing.

Will they cut the military? Of course not, they wouldn’t be able to virtue signal about how patriotic they are.

They’ll surely cut the education and IRS budgets, but the education cuts wouldn’t make a significant difference and the IRS cuts actually increase deficits because then the IRS can’t go after the rich.

The Democrats wouldn’t cut any of those things either, but if the Democrats increased taxes for top earners and top-earning corporations, and implemented a wealth tax, the increased revenue actually could reduce the deficit.

People handed the election on a silver platter to a guy who refused to concede in 2020, and shills are on here saying that Harris is incapable of leading because she took a while to concede?

And I bet those same people complain that Gore conceeded too soon in 2000.

What’s this about the Dems having control of the house? Another person that needs a civics lesson? It’s like the cultists saying that “Kamala had 4 years to fix these problems” because they don’t know how our government works.

The Dems have had control of the government for exactly 2 years since 1980. I don’t understand how anyone can blame the Dems for the state our country is in.

The silver lining in all this is that now that Republicans have complete control, it will be impossible for shills and cultists to blame the Dems.

  • My Subaru needed head gasket twice, transmission failed, and needed a catalytic converter, among other things that don’t even exist on an electric car. Maybe if ICE companies and dealerships didn’t screw people over so hard, I’d consider buying one again. I’m going to try something different this time.

Dealer lied to me to get the sale in multiple ways, saying that the head gasket issue was fixed (it was, but not for the car they were selling me) and told me that the transmission fluid was not supposed to ever be changed (it was, and not changing it is probably why the transmission failed). Bunch of scammer scumbags, my next car will NOT be purchased from a dealer. If their business model requires a state law forcing them into the middle of a transaction, they’re parasites.

I’d donate to Trump by buying a Tesla before I’d purchase a car from a dealership again.

  • No, I’m sure you’re right and children in Gaza are just born evil with rocket launchers in their hands. I’m sure their disposition towards Israel is in no way the fault of religious Zionists in Israel who describe them as animals and treat them as such. I’m sure Hamas and Hezbollah would still be able to convince the children of Gaza to sign up to to launch rockets at Israel even if those children had adequate access to food, water, trade, and sovereignty.

Oh wait, actually that’s total bullshit that makes no sense and you know it. You know Israel is either fully or partially to blame for the conditions that make it so easy for terrorist groups to recruit these people. If a bunch of religious zealots showed up to take my land and kill my family, I’d be the first one to shove a rocket up your ass too.

  • The current extremist government in Israel knows exactly what they need to do to stop Hamas and Hezbollah from continuing to attack Israel, they just don’t want to. They’d rather continue to create the conditions for extremism so that these attacks can be used as justification to finish their genocide.

At this point we know that if you keep an entire group of people poor and oppressed with no prospect of economic opportunity or achieving a viable state, they become easier to recruit into a terrorist group. What have they got left to lose? Why NOT grab a rocket and attack your oppressors? This is why international law doesn’t allow the creation of stateless persons…

Israel could STOP settlement expansion into the West Bank, first and foremost. They could start complying with international law and internationally recognized borders. They could stop working AGAINST a two state solution.

Maybe the Israelis could stop assassinating their own leaders when they work towards peaceful solutions. They could also stop radicalizing their own youth and defense forces to believe that the only solution is to exterminate the Palestinians.

There is a whole range of things that they could do… I wonder why they don’t?

  • I think the stated position is that it’s tough to legislate a line there because it should be a decision that is made between the woman and her doctor.

It might be possible to have legislation that draws a reasonable line while still largely recognizing a woman’s right to choose… The problem is trust. We’ve seen that conservatives have repeatedly tried to use this line as a way to effectively ban abortions. For example, by setting a ban on abortions after 6 weeks, they effectively ban abortion because a woman might not even know they are pregnant by that time.

It’s the same thing with Voter ID. We’ve seen Republicans attempt to use that as a tool for voter suppression, even claiming in public to their supporters that Voter ID would swing the election to the Republican. Does anyone actually support the right of undocumented immigrants to vote? Of course not. We know it’s a bad faith position because if they really wanted to prevent undocumented immigrants from voting, they could just implement automatic voter registration and send people a free Voter ID. They won’t do that because their goal is voter suppression.

Unfortunately this works the same with gun laws, conservatives are suspicious of any gun regulations, even the sensible ones that have majority support, because they’ve been told that Democrats want to take their guns and every regulation is a step down the slippery slope that ends with the feds going door-to-door to take their guns. So they don’t want any line to be drawn.

  • I find that they have a lot of mistaken assumptions that are just lies repeated by Fox News. Sometimes they don’t even watch Fox, they’re just surrounded by people that do.

I like to focus on the economic issues, since there is hard math for the economy and I find it’s not productive to argue with someone who is terrified that a trans person might be in the same bathroom as their child. I find these people literally start foaming at the mouth over that stuff and I just don’t have the right math or words to cut through the rabies.

For example. I’ve heard Republican voters say that Republicans are better for the economy and reducing the national debt. Ask them which Republican presidents have left office with a reduced deficit?

Ask them if they know how much it added to the national debt when Reagan, Bush, and Trump passed tax cuts primarily for the rich and corporations.

Let them know that you’re also concerned about the economy and the deficits, and show them a chart of federal spending and ask them whether they want to cut Social Security, Medicare, or defense spending to pay for more tax cuts for the rich and corporations.

Then ask them why DON’T the Republicans cut ANY of those things to pay for their tax cuts? Why do those deficits just get passed on to the next Democrat and blamed on them? How are Republicans going to reduce the deficit when it’s not politically feasible with their base to cut ANY of those three things?

When it comes to immigration, ask them why they think immigrants are trying to get here in the first place. Show them Smedley Butler and talk about the war on drugs and ask them if they think the US is partially to blame for the violence in other countries that people are trying to escape from.

Also, show them the Maddox comic where he depicts immigrants “stealing our jobs”. Ask them who is hiring these illegal immigrants and why? Ask them who the managers and owners of those companies vote for and why those people might have an incentive to preserve the “illegal” status of those employees.
