We trusted corporations.
I’d like to think we’ve collectively learned our lessons, but watching people migrate from Reddit to fucking Discord makes me think that we really have not and probably never will.

This is where you find that shit is so bloated and pointlessly connected that it’s running on a washing machine.
I cancelled prime the day they announced it and got a VPN instead.
What if it isn’t him, but the guy next in line to replace him?
I’m talking about pedestrians, not other drivers.
If autonomous vehicles can’t be trusted not to run people over, then they shouldn’t be allowed to go above like 20mph in a built up area where there’s likely to be people walking about. And frankly neither should human drivers, but good luck not getting them to call it a “war on motorists” if you try.
I do have a double set with original (or as much as you could get) along with the post-prequels completely broken one. I think there was a pre-prequels version as well. But then that is DVD quality, which is getting on a bit.
The likes of Disney+ doesn’t even acknowledge the originals even exist.
Same with their Alien and Aliens versions as well. No director’s cuts at all, which is a shame as I far prefer them. They should have both.
They were course and rough and irritating and got everywhere.
If an AI car ever has to make a decision on who dies, the answer should always be “whoever agreed to the terms and conditions before they got in the vehicle”.
The only way to watch the original Star Wars movies before George completely fucked with them is piracy.
The 4K77, 80 and 83 editions are what you’re after. Enjoy. There are apparently reduced noise versions as well, but I thought it was perfect as is. It’s old. It’s supposed to have noise and grain. The desert scenes in the first one are really noisy and I’m not 100% sure why. Maybe he filmed those on cheaper film stock in smaller cameras, but that’s just a guess.
In fairness that happened in 1948 and hasn’t really let up since.
Hasn’t that been removed from the old one anyway? I remember having to go with Sunshine and Moonlight a while ago.
I might do so then. Having to log in to a driver update program on my own pc is asinine.
Bin Laden didn’t have a couple of thousand nukes at his disposal.
Bit of it, yeah. But Iran in particular is a mid-20th century clusterfuck of British and US interference.
Honestly the best thing we can all do is wean ourselves off oil so it can go back to being a scattering of unimportant desert tribes.
Not sure how much you can monetise the news feed for a game you already own… The publisher may already control all the things linked to it. If unmonetised things are “ads” now, then the whole Steam UI is a giant ad.
That’s already out isn’t it? Remastered and everything.
In the UK there’s a soft limit of 4.5 times your income.
This is the amount they’re allowed to do with no oversight.
But 15% of their mortgages per quarter can be over that, and as far as I can tell there’s no real upper limit, although they’ve been offering 6x mortgages in some places.
The entire economy has prioritised pumping mortgage money around, and so nothing will be done. The only real lessons from the last big crash was to limit bad borrowing a bit, and that is crumbling away too.
I don’t see any short term fixes that wouldn’t get their political parties booted out and replaced with a party that promises to pump the house prices again.
The prices are set by banks. The only limit on what somebody can sell you a house for is what the bank is prepared to lend you.
If the interest rates go down, the price goes up. If the term lengths go up, the price goes up. Prevent lending, and the landlords will buy it up because normal people can no longer afford them.
The system has been fucked for way too long, and in order to fix it, you’re going to have to upset a lot of people who have put their money into their home.
They’re all so desperate for an excuse to increase the price further, and I don’t know anybody who wants this.
We’re already at over 6 inch for phones. It’s plenty big enough. If I want to see something on a bigger screen, I’ll use a device with a bigger screen.
The annoying thing is they don’t really need to. PS5 SSD loading is near instant. They’re still using techniques that I first noticed in Soul Reaver.
Still we’re a long way from San Andreas and it’s miles of open country between cities to hide the loading.
