On a rainy day at the office I brought the board out and taught a friend. We can generally fit a full game into an hour. It’s totally worth it for the weird looks everyone gives us.

I got so into this game in college. Me and my best friend used to skip class to play it. I’ve never been able to find anyone else who was willing to learn so I haven’t played in years :(
I’ve been quite lucky to work in a place with people who are into this kind of thing. Most of the time I play online on OGS – which is fun, but no substitute for a casual in person game.
Hard to find people local to me as well. I have a go club I attend every week, but the drive is nearly two hours one way.

Went to the Go institute in Tokyo while on my honeymoon. Got to walk around a bit and go through the museum in the basement. Even got to sit in the title match room. It was awesome
I visited Kyoto before I knew how to play, and walked past a smoke-filled Go/shogi parlour. My dream is one day to go back there, find the oldest, crustiest player in the room, challenge them to a game, and get demolished.
I found a go meetup in my mid-sized north american town. I sat down with someone that ended up being a 3-don player. He gave me 9 moves before he took his first. I didn’t make life anywhere.
I need to find a meet-up where I am. I don’t play anywhere near as many in-person games as I’d like.

Those stones are a li’l bit too small for that board. But we have the same problem. You get used to it. 🤷🏻♀️
Yes, they’re so fiddly! I have a full-size set at home. It’s always hard going from that to the dinky little set I keep in the office.
